Kaskus is created on 6 November 1999 by three students from Indonesia, namely Andrew Dervish, Ronald, and Budi, in Seattle, USA. Kaskus originally intended as an informal forum of Indonesian students abroad. [7] The name "Kaskus" itself is an abbreviation of the word "gossip." [7]
In August 2005, PC Magazine Indonesia awarded Kaskus site as the best site and the largest community, then Kaskus website was re-elected as the best choice PC Magazine readers in 2006.
On May 23, 2006 Kaskus management was forced to change the domain from. Com to. Us, because the spread of the virus Brontok created with the purpose of attacking sites in Indonesia where Kaskus entered the target of attack.
